We Changed This Formula Three Times in a Year. Here's Why We Keep Doing It.
Most hemp brands change their formulas quietly and hope nobody notices. The jar looks the same, and the label says "new and improved" without explaining what that means. The old batch and the new batch sit side by side on the same shelf, and the customer finds out which one they bought after they've already opened it. We have changed our two flagship blends more than once this year, and we would rather tell you exactly why than let you guess.
A Formula Changes When the Inputs Change, Not on a Marketing Calendar
Nobody reformulates a working product for fun. Reformulation is expensive, it requires new lab testing, and it risks annoying the exact customers who already liked what they had. The only good reasons to do it are a law changing what you're allowed to sell, or a genuinely better cannabinoid becoming available and worth including. Both of those things happened to us this year, more than once.
We covered the legal side of this directly in an earlier post walking through the state-level ban that hit our original vape formula, and the short version matters here too. When a state moved to ban two specific cannabinoids that were part of our original Toasted Treetop Blend, we didn't swap them out for chemical cousins and keep the same name quietly. We rebuilt the formula from the ground up, sent it back through lab testing, and published exactly what replaced what and why, down to the percentage.
The Toasted Treetop Blend, As It Actually Stands Today
The current formula is Delta 8 at 60 percent, THC-P at 9 percent, CBC and CBG each at 7 percent, and THC-H and THC-B each at 5 percent. That is the entire six-cannabinoid lineup, and it is what's actually in every Toasted Treetop Blend product on the site right now, from the Skywalker OG disposable to the cartridge version. Nothing on that list is a compound we've had to walk back since this version launched.
THC-B and THC-H weren't part of the original blend at all. We added each one separately, on its own timeline, once we had lab data we trusted and a reason to believe it improved the blend rather than just padding the ingredient list. Canopy Cruisers Went Through the Same Process
Canopy Cruisers carries 22mg of Delta 9, 51mg of Delta 8, 8mg of THC-P, 10mg of CBG, 5mg of CBC, and 2mg each of THC-B and THC-H per gummy. That's the current, confirmed formula, and it came from the same review process as the vape line. The same state-level restriction that hit the Toasted Treetop Blend also touched Canopy Cruisers, and it got the same treatment: full reformulation, published math, no quiet substitution.
A brand that changes its formula and tells you exactly what changed is doing the harder, less comfortable version of the job. A brand that changes its formula and says nothing is betting you won't check.
What "Stable" Actually Means in This Industry
A hemp brand that has never touched its formula in three years of operating in a category this regulated has either gotten remarkably lucky, or it isn't looking closely enough at what's actually allowed to be in the jar. Federal and state hemp law has moved multiple times in the last two years alone, and more is coming later this year. A formula that never changes in that environment is not a sign of quality control. It's a sign nobody's checking.
Think about it from the other direction. If a brand's ingredient list has looked identical since 2023 while state after state has passed compound-specific restrictions, one of two things is true: either that brand got extraordinarily lucky and never touched a restricted cannabinoid, or it kept selling the same thing under the same label and hoped nobody in a lab coat would ask questions. Neither one is a compliment, and neither one is what "stable" is supposed to mean.
We'd rather be the brand that shows its work every time the ground shifts, even when that means admitting last year's version isn't this year's version. Check the current formula on any product page before you buy, not just the marketing copy on the box. If a brand can't tell you exactly what's in their blend right now and why it's built that way, that gap is worth noticing too.
